Stockholm Public Transport

Stockholm Public Transport, SL, is responsible for buses, underground trains, commuter trains, trams and certain ferry lines in Greater Stockholm.

The underground is the easiest way to get around town. Tickets can be purchased at SL Centers, via SL app and newsagent kiosks called Pressbyrån or 7-Eleven. It is not possible to pay cash for tickets on board buses in Stockholm, however, you can instead tap your contactless credit card directly on one of SLs readers and start your journey. You can also use digital contactless cards in digital wallets such as Samsung Pay, Google Pay, Apple Pay and Fidesmo Pay. The contactless card must be connected to one of the following card networks: Mastercard, Visa or American Express. When you tap your contactless card, you are purchasing a single-journey ticket with the default fare of 39 SEK.

Prepaid cards are the best alternative for those making few trips. It's also possible to buy 1, 3, or 7-day cards, which allow free travel in all zones during the validity period.

Use the online planning tool SL Journey Planner before making a trip and it will suggest you the best efficient route. You enter the starting address and the address of your destination.

By Train

By Arlanda Express train (see www.arlandaexpress.com) it takes only 20 minutes but costs twice as much as the bus fare. Take the train from Arlanda to Stockholm Central.

From Stockholm city center to Nordita

Take the right exit when you enter the terminal hall from the bus stop, then take the stairs just to the left of the exit and follow signs "Tunnelbana" and the blue "T" logo. Purchase an SL ticket using one of the ways mentioned above.

Walk towards red line and take any train going in the direction Mörby Centrum, to Tekniska Högskolan (three stops). Take the exit Körsbärsvägen, and the staircase to your right after the entrance.

To Nordita it is now a 15 min walk. When you come up to the street level from the subway, you will have the main street Valhallavägen on your left-hand side, making an S-bend towards the left, around a small park. You should follow that street and continue slightly downhill until you reach a hot-dog stand Tullfritt, at the bottom of a steep street Roslagstullsbacken.

Nordita is at the top of that street, across the roundabout, behind Albanova main building. Instead of walking, you can take the bus no. 61 from just outside the subway exit (50 m ahead, along the sidewalk) to the last station Ruddammen.
